Mr. Shazil Merchant is the Director at Champion Digital – a member of Champion Group, which is an advertising company dealing with digital signage solutions across the UAE. The family legacy was started in 1982 in Pakistan by his grandfather, the late Mr. M.Y. Merchant.

Mr. Shazil was born and brought up in Dubai, where he completed his schooling at the Cambridge International School. He then completed his higher studies in Electrical and Electronics engineering at the University of Manchester and worked in the UK after which Mr. Shazil joined the family business in Dubai. The company in Dubai was started by his father, Mr. Shabbir Merchant in 1989. Ever since then, Champion Group has immensely progressed over the years, from static neon signage to large format printing to LED-based 3-D signage and so on.

Mr. Shazil further developed the organization by bringing in the concept of digital signage and launching Champion Digital. They started off with features such as indoor and outdoor LED screens, LCD displays, and interactive touch screen kiosks, which were also made available on a rental basis for clients. The company then advanced into developing advertising solutions using robotics and AI to serve the customers’ needs more precisely. Interactive robots were brought into the food and beverage industry, which helped in marketing various restaurant chains, and customer service robots were introduced at malls. Along with such solutions offered under the umbrella of Champion Digital, the company is also involved in events and exhibitions. They build entire booths for their clients and provide them with rental signage solutions such as LED screens and LCD kiosks.

Mr. Shazil is looking to bring in more innovative and high-quality solutions into their product offerings to keep up with the fast-growing industry, and to also serve more than just advertising needs in the future.
