In 2023, the first international mountaineer to summit Mount Everest was a Pakistani woman from Dubai.
Sunday at 8:02 a.m., mother-of-two, and financier Naila Kiani reached the summit. She also became the second Pakistani lady to reach the summit of Mount Everest. It was Pasang Temba Sherpa who accompanied her. Samina Baig, who accomplished the achievement in 2013, is the first woman from Pakistan to reach the summit of the mountain.
By reaching the summit of Everest, Kiani has climbed five peaks exceeding 8,000 meters in height within two years. She was the first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Annapurna 1, the tenth-highest mountain in the world, located in the Gandaki province of Nepal.
In July 2022, she reached the summit of K2 (8,611), the world’s second-highest mountain. She ascended K2 shortly after Samina Baig, the first Pakistani woman to do so accomplished the feat.
Last month, two Pakistani mountaineers were rescued while descending Mount Annapurna. Among them was Kiani. On their ascension to Nepal’s 8,091-meter-high peak, she was accompanied by the world’s youngest mountaineer, Shehroze Kashif.
