According to the news portal China Daily, the first of China’s wind and solar energy projects built in arid regions is now connected to the electrical grid and has started producing power. For 85 billion yuan ($12.28 billion), China has been constructing green energy projects in the Gobi Desert and other deserted areas of Central China.
Countries are now developing new methods for producing greener energy due to the need for the planet to cut carbon emissions. Early this year, Interesting Engineering published a story about how Switzerland outfitted the highest dam in Europe with 5,000 solar panels. China wants to turn the arid areas of its landscape into areas where electricity may be produced.
