Flydubai, a Dubai-based airline, reached a significant milestone in its expansion journey on October 29th when it started offering direct flights from the United Arab Emirates to Cairo and Poznań. It became the first airline from the UAE to do so. Airport officials greeted the inaugural flights with warm greetings and water cannon salutes at Sphinx International Airport (SPX) in Cairo and Poznań Airport (POZ), indicating the increasing significance of these routes within Flydubai’s network.
Increasing Presence in Egypt and Poland:
Cairo: A Doorway to the Past and Contemporary Comfort
Flydubai now offers flights to two destinations in Egypt, Alexandria included, following the inauguration of flights to Cairo. The importance of the new daily service to Cairo was emphasised by Flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for the UAE, GCC, Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent, Sudhir Sreedharan. He underlined that it gives more visitors from the UAE and the surrounding area easy access to this ancient city through the Sphinx airport. Additionally, flydubai’s Business and Economy cabins—available on their newest aircraft running this route—offer passengers an increased level of comfort.
Poznań: An Entrance to Poland’s Booming Tourism Industry
Flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, acknowledged the company’s happiness at Poznań being its third Polish destination. This calculated action is a reaction to the notable increase in the number of passengers visiting and departing Poland in recent years. With the addition of a third weekly trip to Poznań, flydubai now operates a staggering 17 weekly flights between Dubai and three of Poland’s major cities: Krakow, Poznań, and Warsaw. Flydubai’s direct flights have created new travel alternatives and increased passenger flows in both business and tourism, according to Grzegorz Bykowski, vice president of the Poznań-Ławica Airport Authority. The partnership with the Poznań Local Tourism Organisation seeks to promote Poznań as a travel destination of interest to travellers from the United Arab Emirates.
Flydubai’s CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, expressed delight in the airline’s growing network, including the opening of over 20 new destinations by 2023. With this expansion, flydubai now offers over 120 destinations worldwide, ranging from Italy to Malaysia. Al Ghaith reaffirmed flydubai’s dedication to bolstering air connections from the United Arab Emirates to underserved areas through Dubai’s aviation hub, essential to promoting economic expansion and enabling unrestricted trade and tourism.
