An innovative hybrid education approach is about to take the front stage at a famous Sharjah institution, responding to the unique needs of its student body in the fast-paced educational scene.
His Highness Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a respected member of the Supreme Council, has given the go-ahead for an innovative project for the University of Sharjah (UoS). This innovative plan, supported by His Highness, aims to offer working students significant benefits and improve educational accessibility.
Speaking over the phone on the well-known Direct Line radio program, Sheikh Dr. Sultan expressed his understanding of the difficulties experienced by students who balance their studies with employment responsibilities.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan said, “I deeply understand the challenges faced by hardworking students who struggle with regular attendance at university.”
To address these issues, the University of Sharjah will introduce a dynamic hybrid education system that skillfully combines traditional in-person learning with the adaptability of remote training. This innovative strategy is expected to alter current educational paradigms completely.
His Highness described the ground-breaking design, explaining that each course will only require a student to be physically present on campus one day each week. This sharply contrasts the previous schedule, which required three days of in-person attendance. The subsequent two days of the week will then effortlessly switch to an online learning setting.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan emphasized the selectiveness of this procedure, making it clear that its application will depend on specific cases where substantial evidence calls for such a course of action. The people restricted by work responsibilities and unable to take extended leave will be the main benefactors of this ground-breaking effort. His Highness emphasized that this novel system is a customized solution rather than a prescriptive standard.
This innovative approach began in a phone call from a worried resident named Umm Saud, who expressed her difficulties in maintaining continuous attendance because of her professional obligations.
In addition, Sheikh Dr. Sultan fervently emphasized the necessity of embracing and fostering the Arabic language while evoking a profound understanding of its cultural significance.
“People would study their language with unwavering dedication and persistence, just as I have if they truly understood the profound value of their spoken language,” he said.
The University of Sharjah’s embrace of this hybrid method in an era when education is evolving at an unprecedented rate is evidence of Sheikh Dr. Sultan’s dedication to advancing education that is accessible, pertinent, and attentive to the requirements of contemporary students.
