According to Google, Pakistani app developers have undergone a startling metamorphosis, moving from 27th to 16th in the world rankings as of 2023. An unprecedented increase occurred the year before, with Pakistani-made apps receiving an astounding four billion downloads.
Pakistan’s exports of IT increased significantly by 2% during the first half of the current fiscal year, reaching $1.3 billion. According to research by the renowned Pakistani investment banking and securities firm Arif Habib, these it exports made up a sizable 38% of Pakistan’s total service exports.
According to Google’s data, Pakistani creativity was evident in 2022, with 65 apps created by 24 Pakistani developers dominating the top 10 lists for gaming and app categories on both the Play Store and the App Store.
Interestingly, Google noted that Pakistani apps received four billion downloads in the prior year, representing a fantastic yearly growth rate of 30% from 2018 to 2022.
Notably, Google organized a significant in-person event for applications and games in Lahore that brought together more than 500 developers and key industry executives.
Google is preparing to step up its assistance for the regional app market to bolster better Pakistani developers’ ability to take advantage of digital opportunities. This effort includes activities like holding conferences like “Think Apps,” intended to share knowledge and insights from specialists with the local developer community, as noted by Google.
