Dubai is once again proving its commitment to pushing the boundaries of technological progress as it prepares to host the ‘Dubai Assembly for Generative AI’ on October 11-12. The announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, through his Twitter account.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that AI has always been an integral part of ‘Dubai,’ with the city’s relentless focus on future technologies ingrained in its DNA. This dedication has granted Dubai a world-class competitive edge, propelling it to the forefront of technological advancements.
The vision is clear – Dubai aims to lead the world in adopting AI and utilizing it to bring about positive and impactful changes for the city, the entire region, and beyond.
The upcoming event, the ‘Dubai Assembly for Generative AI,’ is set to provide an in-depth exploration of this revolutionary technology, placing Dubai at the forefront of the rapidly growing sector. Generative AI and machine learning algorithms like ChatGPT hold immense potential for creating new content across various domains, including audio, code, images, text, simulations, and videos.
Sheikh Hamdan had previously inaugurated the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence to further accelerate AI adoption. This centre is dedicated to assisting government entities in embracing AI technologies fully.
According to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), AI is projected to contribute nearly 14 per cent of the UAE’s national GDP by 2030, while the Middle East is expected to capture 2 per cent of the global benefits of AI, amounting to an estimated $320 billion.
The Dubai Centre for AI is taking proactive steps to equip over 1,000 government employees from more than 30 entities with Generative AI training. The goal is to boost productivity within the government sector and offer support to over 20 local and global advanced technology startups.
With the rapid pace of technological development, Sheikh Hamdan emphasizes Dubai’s determination to test and harness AI for societal benefits quickly. The government is keen to witness practical applications of generative AI technologies that have tangible and significant impacts on various sectors.
