According to a new assessment by Ookla, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) now has the title of having the fastest mobile internet speed in the world.
The UAE was ranked top in the world for mobile internet speed for most of the first half of 2023, according to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, an online tool that assesses internet speed performance.

With a download speed of 204.24 Mbps and an upload speed of 22.72 Mbps, the nation reached its maximum in June.
Surprisingly, the UAE managed to take first place in five out of the six months in 2023, dominating the months of January, February, March, May, and June. They occupied the second position in April.
The UAE is no slacker regarding fixed broadband speed, ranking second internationally for June. With a download speed of 239.2 Mbps, it took first place for the region and among other Arab countries.
Nevertheless, Singapore dominated the world with an average speed of 247.29 Mbps.
Some extra intriguing information was provided in Ookla’s quarterly reports. A well-known telecom company, Etisalat, had the fastest median download speeds for mobile and fixed broadband in the second quarter of 2023, at 216.65 Mbps and 261.98 Mbps, respectively.
