In the presence of the Chadian Minister of Health, several other Chadian government officials, representatives of the UAE organizations overseeing the project’s execution, and the Emirati medical team, Rashid Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Chad, today officially opened the field hospital in the Chadian city of Amdjarass.
According to Al Shamsi, the hospital’s opening is a component of the humanitarian, relief, and medical assistance that the UAE is providing to citizens of Sudan who are dealing with humanitarian difficulties brought on by the onset of hostilities in Sudan at the beginning of April. The assistance provided to the Republic of Chad also tries to lessen the adverse humanitarian effects of the current situation’s flood of Sudanese refugees.
Al Shamsi emphasized that the hospital’s development is intended to provide aid, support, and humanitarian assistance to refugees to lessen their suffering. Additionally, it fits into the UAE’s ongoing mission to help those in need, especially the most vulnerable populations like the sick, children, the elderly, and women.
He reaffirmed that the UAE keeps an eye on the humanitarian crisis affecting the people of Sudan and its effects on the surrounding nations. He said that the UAE aims to offer all possible assistance to lessen human suffering and expressed the hope that the field hospital would help the Sudanese people receive the best possible care.
It is important to note that the UAE has run an air and sea bridge since the crisis began, shipping almost 2000 tonnes of supplies to Port Sudan to help those affected inside Sudan and the Republic of Chad to help Sudanese refugees.
To assist Sudanese refugees, the UAE has erected a field hospital in the Chadian city of Amdjarass on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The Emirates Red Crescent, Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, three humanitarian organizations in the United Arab Emirates, jointly collaborated to create the program.
