The New York-based art and advertising company MSCHF has created a miniature designer handbag for an auction.
The tiny Louis Vuitton bag will be available for auction next week.
The manufacturer shared a photo of the bag with the comment, “Smaller than a grain of sea salt and narrow enough to pass through the eye of a needle, this is a purse so small you’ll need a microscope to see it.” on Instagram to herald the bag’s arrival.
Although there are large, typical handbags, and little handbags, this is the pinnacle of bag diminution.
The company made the following remark in response to the trend of handbags, which were formerly functional but are now shrinking and becoming status symbols: “As a once-functional object like a handbag becomes smaller and smaller, its object status gradually becomes more abstracted until it is purely a brand signifier.”
The lime-green monogram bag has united people worldwide, as seen by the Instagram picture, eliciting a range of responses from readers. Many made jokes about the diminutive size of the bag.
