The first such manufacturing facility of its kind to be built in the Middle East, the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group, the integrated economic and industrial hub of Abu Dhabi, today announced the signing of a land lease agreement with Spain’s Tubacex Group. The facility is expected to start producing OCTG-CRA tubular solutions by the end of 2024.
A contract was signed during the Make It in the Emirates Forum between the AD Ports Group, represented by Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities & Free Zones, and the Tubacex Group, represented by Jess Esmors, CEO. The signing occurred in the presence of Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director & Group CEO of AD Ports Group, and Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. The Forum, which focused on the theme “Investment, Sustainability, Growth,” was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) in association with the Department of Economic Development and ADNOC, and it was held from May 31 to June 1, 2023.
MoIAT is working to bring together committed offtake agreements, enablers, incentives, and funding providers to develop the industrial sector. It also represents KEZAD’s dedication to advancing Operation 300 Billion, the country’s industrial and advanced technology strategy, which aims to increase the industrial sector’s impressive AED180 billion contribution to GDP. Additionally, it intends to advance the UAE’s industrial sector, expand its status as a regional and global industrial hub that draws industrial investments, increase its contribution to the GDP, and reinforce the sector’s role in boosting the country’s economy. KEZAD hopes to further improve the localization and robustness of supply chains through its partnership with Tubacex Group.
The 50,000m2 facility built in KEZAD will allow Tubacex to expand its clientele globally while establishing a significant presence in the UAE. The company functions as a fully integrated one-stop-shop enterprise and offers a variety of stainless-steel tubular solutions for the energy sector.
Abdullah Al Hameli stated, “As we move forward in our goal to become the top center in the region for manufacturing and innovation, KEZAD continues to invite the best-in-class enterprises to establish their presence in Abu Dhabi. Our goal of achieving industrial excellence is ideally aligned with Tubacex Group’s global expertise in tubular solutions. From its location in KEZAD, the company will be able to improve its offerings and gain from the area and the global market in addition to the Abu Dhabi industrial ecosystem.
“We are very excited to establish a presence in Abu Dhabi, as the UAE, and KEZAD in particular, have consistently proven to be the right location providing an exceptional operating framework and connectivity to global clients,” said Jess Esmors. By making this investment, we increase our current presence in the UAE, at the center of a significant international Energy hub. The most cutting-edge, environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques will be put into practice by Tubacex in Abu Dhabi, ensuring the supply of a vital component that the UAE needs to satisfy its rising natural gas production ambitions, which are essential to the energy transition landscape.
