Renowned for its cutting-edge construction, Dubai wants to build its enormous moon model, which is expected to cost more than £4 billion.
The project’s co-founder, Canadian businessman Michael Henderson, intended to construct the moon atop a 30-meter structure. The diameter of the sphere would be 274 meters.
The “Moon” project would let people experience visiting a satellite in space while still on Earth.
Ideally, the false moon would draw over 2.5 million visitors annually and generate over £1.5 billion in revenue.
The funding will come from Moon World Resorts and cost £4.28 billion.
“Our ‘brand’ is the biggest in the world. Our brand is well-known to eight billion people, and we have only just begun,” added Henderson.
Inside the moon will be a resort featuring a 4,000-room hotel, a 10,000-seat arena, a nightclub, and a spa facility. A “lunar colony” will also allow visitors to taste what walking on the moon is like.
The moon would shine as a full, half, or crescent moon in the evening.
Henderson and Sandra G Matthews, the project’s co-founders, predicted it would “significantly impact every aspect of the UAE’s economy, including tourism.”
