Pakistan put on an impressive display in the third T20I game at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, winning by a commanding 66 runs. Although Afghanistan had already clinched the series with a 2-0 lead in the first two games, Pakistan was determined to end on a high note.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field, but this decision didn’t work out in their favor as Pakistan’s batsmen put on a solid performance. Saim Ayub was a notable scorer, making 49 runs off 40 balls with four fours and two sixes. Iftikhar Ahmed contributed 31 runs off 25 balls with two sixes, while Shadab Khan scored 28 runs in just 17 balls with five fours. Abdulla Shafique added 23 runs off 13 balls with one four and two sixes. Mujeeb Ur Rahman claimed two wickets, while the other five bowlers each took one.
Despite Mohammad Harris failing to make an impact with just one run, Pakistan was able to build a respectable score of 182/7 in their 20 overs. Shadab Khan’s excellent all-round performance earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match award, with 28 runs off 17 balls and 3 wickets for 13 runs in four overs.
Chasing a target of 183 at a required rate of 9.1 runs per over, Afghanistan struggled to keep up with the run rate and lost wickets regularly. The team was eventually bowled out for just 116 runs in 18.4 overs, with Azmatullah Omarzai making the highest score of 21 runs off two fours and one six. Rahmanullah Gurbaz contributed 18 runs off 11 balls with one four and one six, while Mohammad Nabi added 17 runs off 10 balls with one four and one six. Usman Ghani made 15 runs off 17 balls with one four, and Rashid Khan scored 16 runs off 14 balls with two fours and one six.
Overall, Pakistan dominated the match from the start and put on a strong performance to secure a win. Their aggressive approach and strong batting and bowling performances allowed them to end the series on a high note.
